EQMS is excited to celebrate GIS Day on November 20, 2024! In honor of this global event, the EQMS team will host a one-day, complimentary GIS training session at the University of Information Technology & Sciences (UITS) in collaboration with the university faculty. This hands-on session aims to introduce students to fundamental GIS concepts, applications, and tools, making it an ideal opportunity for anyone interested in exploring the field of geospatial technology.
Event Description:
1. Training Outline:
a. Overview of GIS and Its Applications: A comprehensive introduction to GIS, its importance, and various real-world applications
b. Introduction to GIS Data Types: An exploration on spatial data types, coordinating system and projection, and data sources
c. Introduction to GIS Software: A beginner-friendly look into popular GIS software platforms, covering basic tools and uses
d. Basic Spatial Analysis: Introduction to essential spatial analysis techniques to interpret geospatial data.
e. Hands-on Practice – Basic Map Creation: A practical session where participants will create digital maps using GIS software.
2. Q&A Session: Following the training, there will be a Q&A session where participants can clarify doubts and gain additional insights into GIS and RS.
3. Quiz Session: After the completion of the training session, a Quiz Session will be organized for the students to have an interactive participation which will also reflect their obtained knowledge about the GIS interface through the session.
4. Certification: At the end of the program, all participants will receive a participation certificate in recognition of their dedication and interest in GIS.
